| To my friends, family, and former coworkers who might remember my little friend and buddy, I am sadden to my very core to have to report the passing of my little sidekick Butterscotch, the mini Netherlands Dwarf. He joined the staff of the New Hanover County Day Treatment Center as a therapy bunny. He was very good at his job. The students were very protective of him. They would sit in class holding him in their laps while doing their classwork. I never had to tell the new students how to take care of Butterscotch because the students did it for me. He was very much loved by the group of kids we had at that time. Hard not to be moved by the sight of a six foot tall teenage tricked out in gang colors tenderly holding a 2 pound yellow baby bunny, feeding it, and changing its litter box. Talking softly so as not to scare the little fellow. Yes, Butterscotch was my window in to the hearts of these teens. It was that soft under layment that we had to find to start peeling away the "world". And it all started for me with a very special little golden bunny. Butterscotch spent his "retirement years" here with me at my home being a pampered house bunny. He passed away today peacefully. I guess the Lord need a new friend heaven. So my little guy hopped over the Rainbow Bridge. Where I hope he is waiting there for me when I go. I miss you so. Butterscotch Weaver Born November 1, 2004 Death June 22, 2008 |
